Aikoku Farm House

Aikoku Farm House was designed as a new model for contemporary farmhouse living in rural Japan. Responding to changing family values, the project balances the younger generation’s desire for privacy with the older generation’s preference for living together. Composed of five distinct volumes, the house obscures the boundary between generations from the outside while carefully protecting privacy within. Rather than following urban housing models, the project proposes a new form of rural living rooted in agricultural culture and everyday life.
