Located in Niseko, Hokkaido, TAKI was designed as a private holiday villa that blends naturally into snow and forest. Built on a wooded slope in an area of heavy snowfall, the villa was designed to respond to the terrain and climate. The entrance and garage are embedded within the terrain, while the living space opens toward the landscape through large framed windows. Constructed in reinforced concrete to withstand heavy snow, the structure also frames nature itself. Named “TAKI,” meaning waterfall in Japanese, the residence expresses the relationship between architecture and nature.
